Refashion: Flare Jeans to Skinny Jeans

Nothing too crazy here, just a quick twenty minute jeans surgery.

Mostly, I wanted to share this awesome tutorial for shortening pants while keeping the original hem: I believe from the pictures that it might be a Regenade Seamstress tutorial ๐Ÿ™‚ I needed to lose two inches on this pair and I think it worked out great.

The sides I took in from the outside seam because there is no topstitching and I didn’t see much twisting of the leg so yay.

As for the wrinkly knees, if anyone has a tutorial for that, I’d be happy to try it out on my other old jeans!

  1. I think this might be really useful for me. I have a bad knee which swells, so I really struggle with skinny jeans because there just isn’t enough room for my expanding knee. Altering a roomier pair would be just the ticket!

  2. Funny how not that long ago (OK, pretty long, but still) flares were in fashion and then skinny took over and who can predict if flares will be back in the future? Would we be altering our skinnies back to flares with triangles of fabric at the bottom? But I think skinnies look much better especially on petite frames ๐Ÿ˜‰
